You must satisfy the academic requirements for the job you are applying for. Education prerequisites for Officer entry to the ADF range from passes in Year 12 (or equivalent) English and three other subjects to currently undertaking tertiary studies while most professional jobs require you to be a tertiary graduate.
You must have completed Year 12 (or equivalent) with results that qualify you for admission to the University of New South Wales.

You must hold prerequisite academic qualifications in one of a range of disciplines such as Medicine, Law, Dentistry, Nursing, Engineering, Business, IT or the Arts.
You must have completed an appropriate undergraduate degree, which may include science or humanities related degrees such as: BSc, BA, BBus or BEd. Successful applicants undertake a four year sponsored degree course at one of the Australian universities offering the Graduate Dental Program. Once you have completed the degree you can qualify as a dentist and serve in the Australian Army as a Dental Officer.
If you already hold an appropriate undergraduate degree, have successfully completed the Graduate Australian Medical Schools Admission Test (GAMSAT) and been accepted into an Australian university, you can be sponsored to qualify as a medical practitioner and then serve in the Australian Defence Force as a medical officer.
Undergraduate students must be pursuing a relevant degree at an Australian university. Students must have completed one year of a three or four year degree or two years of a five or six year degree before sponsorship can commence.
