There is provision within the MSB Scheme for recognition of full time service exceeding 12 months with another foreign defence force to be included in aggregated service for the calculation of the member benefit, subject to that service being accepted by the MSBS Board of Trustees. Potential enlistees who may have qualifying service should write to the Commonwealth Superannuation Administration (ComSuper) PO Box 22, Belconnen ACT 2616 and seek a determination regarding the eligibility of their service.

Australian Education International, through the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI-NOOSR), provides official information and advice on the comparability of overseas higher education, post-secondary technical and vocational overseas qualifications with Australian qualifications.
